Psalm 46:1 – “God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear …”
Psalm 34:8b – “… blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him”.
Most of the Psalms were written during times of crisis and distress. The Psalms can be a great source of comfort and strength during these unprecedented days. The psalmist writes that God is our refuge and strength. Where should we turn in times of crisis? God desires that we trust and rest in Him. He is an ever-present help in times of trouble.
God helps us through the assurance of His presence. In fact, Psalm 121 states that the God who watches over us never sleeps. He is available 24/7 waiting for us to call out to Him. He is always there!
Secondly, God helps us in trouble by offering us peace. Both peace with God and the peace of God.
Thirdly, God helps us through His providential care. We know that God is in control even when life seems out of control. Later in Psalm 46, the psalmist quotes God “Be still and know that I am God…” Even during a global pandemic, God is still on the throne!
Lastly, God helps us with purpose. The church is here “for such a time as this”. Let’s take advantage of these challenging days to share the gospel with others!
During these difficult days, please know that I am available to pray, counsel or listen.
