Acts 1:8 Project Proposal is based on Jesus’ command to be witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth. The Acts 1:8 committee, consisting of Dennis Deck (member of the board), Michele Derheim (member of the missions committee), and Pastor Ron, has carefully and prayerfully selected mission projects to bless other ministries and advance God’s kingdom. Pastor Ron explained these to the church today, and on Sunday, May 16th, the congregation will be asked fro approve investing $30,000 towards these projects.
Pending congregational approval, we will have a missions celebration on Sunday, June 13th, with an extended service to celebrate what God has done through Community Bible Church.

The mission ministries proposed are:
Judea (local)
Manchester Community Resource Center $6,500
Marriage Enrichment Weekend hosted by Community Bible Church in Coordination with Bridge of Life Ministry $3,500.
Judea and Samaria (US based ministries)
Jocelyn Boote (from Manchester) in Eatonville Washington in missionary pilot training $3,333.
Women at Risk International (W.A.R.) an international ministry based in Wyoming, MI. This donation is to help with their 9-1-1 call center as abuse cases, domestic violence and human trafficking cases have skyrocketed during the Covid pandemic, $3,333.
Tentmakers Bible Mission, a church planting ministry, $3,3333.
To the ends of the earth (Overseas missions)
World Mission, to help them build a fence around a Christian school in Nigeria to protect girls from being abducted by Boko Haram, $10,000.

Safety protocols adopted from our Covid-19 advisory committee. These protocols were reviewed at the end of April, and due to the recent surge in Covid cases, they will remain in place. They will be reviewed by the committee again in June:

  1. Masks will be required upon entry to the building and are to be worn continuously. (We have lots of extra masks available in the church entryway.)
  2. Hand sanitizer stations are available in the church entryway and encouraged to be used.
  3. Please remember to social distance. We will continue to rope off every other pew in the church sanctuary.
  4. Please stay at home if you have a fever or any other symptoms.
  5. We will be taking a ‘sanctuary picture’ for contact tracing purposes.
  6. We will pause our fellowship time and Sunday School until further notice.
  7. We will limit our number of songs/hymns each Sunday.
  8. Out of an abundance of caution, we will postpone our Candlelight Christmas Eve service til next year.
  9. Face shields are available for pianists and keyboard players and are on those instruments.
